IVEST and Cloverlay Exit Care Bears Early

'Care Bears exceeded all of our milestones – operational, financial, and also from a market perspective,' Cloverlay's Jeffrey Collins told PE Hub. Not every investment follows the traditional five-year-or-longer hold period. Some defy expectations by growing at a brisk pace, precipitating a faster exit.

Such was the case for Care Bears, the Los Angeles-based family entertainment franchise that was acquired by IVEST Consumer Partners and Cloverlay only three years ago. The rapid growth across operational, financial, and market dimensions triggered an earlier-than-typical exit for the private equity firms.

The deal highlights how consumer franchise investments can accelerate value creation timelines when brands resonate strongly with markets. Both IVEST and Cloverlay specialize in consumer-focused investments, and the Care Bears property demonstrated the potential for iconic brands to generate outsized returns in compressed timeframes.
