Private equity firm Investindustrial has acquired Proveris, a manufacturer of analytical testing instrumentation for the pharmaceutical industry. Based in Hudson, Massachusetts, Proveris focuses on orally inhaled and nasal drug products, a complex delivery market that requires precise spray characterization and particle measurement. The deal allows founder and CEO Dino Farina to stay on while also taking a minority stake, signaling continuity for the company's clients and R&D pipeline.

For Investindustrial, the purchase adds a niche, high-precision toolmaker to its portfolio at a time when pharma outsourcing is growing. Large drug developers increasingly rely on specialized vendors to speed up development and reduce capital spending, making testing equipment a steady revenue segment. No financial terms were disclosed.

Proveris was founded in 1995 and has built a reputation for supporting inhaled and nasal drug formulation work. Expect Investindustrial to push broader commercial partnerships and potential international expansion as demand for respiratory therapies remains strong.
