HighGrove, a Southern‑flank provider of landscape maintenance and enhancement, announced the acquisition of Tampa‑based Synergy Landscapes. The deal adds a portfolio of commercial and residential contracts to HighGrove’s existing footprint across Georgia, Alabama and the Carolinas. Jim McCutcheon, HighGrove’s chief executive, said the purchase expands the firm’s service depth and geographic reach.

Backed by private‑equity firm Agellus Capital, HighGrove Partners has been pursuing consolidation in the fragmented southeastern market. Synergy, founded in 2005 by David Kravetz, built a reputation for responsive client service, positioning it as an attractive bolt‑on. The transaction underscores a broader trend of investors targeting niche service providers to generate scale and cross‑sell opportunities.

With the acquisition complete, HighGrove now serves roughly 200 clients and expects revenue to climb modestly in the next fiscal year. Existing Synergy staff will remain under McCutcheon’s leadership, preserving client relationships while integrating back‑office functions. The move positions HighGrove as one of the few regional players capable of competing for larger municipal contracts.

Analysts note that the deal, though undisclosed financially, likely sits in the low‑double‑digit million range given Synergy’s size. The combined entity’s stronger balance sheet should aid in securing financing for future acquisitions. The transaction also expands HighGrove’s service catalog to include irrigation design, a segment showing steady growth in commercial real estate projects.
