In a recent interview, Matthias Wittkowski, EQT’s global head of services, highlighted that AI and digitalization are the key drivers reshaping the testing, inspection, certification and compliance (TICC) sector. He projects the industry to grow at mid‑to‑high single digits over the medium term, with structural tailwinds only strengthening. Additionally, the industry’s need for faster, more reliable compliance checks has made AI integration a strategic priority.

EQT’s strategy is to grow Intertek internationally through targeted mergers and acquisitions. In June, the firm and the Intertek board approved a takeover bid to take the London‑listed company private, valuing it at roughly £9.3 billion.

Wittkowski believes that AI will enhance delivery efficiency, reduce costs, and create new market opportunities. The combination of digital tools and Intertek’s global reach positions EQT to capture significant upside in the evolving TICC landscape. The firm also sees synergies in cross‑industry applications, further amplifying growth potential.

With these developments, EQT remains optimistic about the sector’s trajectory and is poised to leverage AI‑driven innovations to expand Intertek’s footprint worldwide.

EQT is actively scouting potential acquisition targets that complement Intertek’s service portfolio, aiming to render the combined entity a global leader in TICC services.
