Butterfly Equity has acquired ePac, a San Diego-based flexible packaging firm catering to consumer-packaged goods brands. The sellers included Amco and Indevco North America. Founded in 2016, ePac operates 14 facilities across the US and Canada.

The leadership team, including CEO and co-founder Virag Patel, will remain at the helm and retain a significant ownership position. This move allows Butterfly Equity to expand its presence in the growing CPG packaging sector, which has seen heightened private equity interest due to rising demand for sustainable and customized packaging solutions.

ePac’s digital printing capabilities and rapid expansion since inception made it an attractive target. The acquisition aligns with Butterfly’s strategy of investing in industrial manufacturing platforms. Market observers expect further consolidation in flexible packaging as brands seek agility and innovation.

Virag Patel and team are expected to drive continued growth through technology and geographic expansion.
