Blue Point Capital Partners portfolio company Weaver Brands has acquired Fort Myers, Florida-based Shapley’s, a manufacturer of equine grooming products, for undisclosed terms. The deal is Weaver’s third add-on acquisition since partnering with Blue Point.
Shapley’s was founded in 1938 and has been under its current ownership since 1991. It makes shampoos, conditioners, hair polish and other equine cosmetic grooming products that support skin and coat health, and sells them through distributors and dealers. Its brands include Original MTG and MTG Plus. The company serves around 1,200 customers globally, including professional groomers, competitive riders and horse owners.
Weaver will continue to expand “into new categories both organically and through acquisition,” said Charley Geiger, partner at Blue Point. The company is actively seeking partnerships with complementary businesses. Weaver manufactures and distributes branded and private-label products for the equine, pet, leathercraft, arborist, livestock and construction markets.
Blue Point manages more than $1.8 billion in committed capital and invests in lower middle-market businesses, typically those generating $30 million–$300 million in revenue.
