ArcLight Capital Partners has committed $1 billion of equity to launch Anchor Point Transmission, a Houston-based independent transmission company formed to develop, finance, own and operate high-voltage transmission infrastructure for utility and cooperative partners across the US. The platform aims to address rising demand for grid infrastructure driven by electrification, manufacturing and AI compute growth.

ArcLight has appointed John Krenicki as executive chairman and Justin Campbell as president to lead the new platform. Campbell brings transmission experience spanning development, system planning, regulatory strategy and utility partnerships, including leadership roles at NextEra Energy, Tallgrass Energy and Edison Transmission. Krenicki's background includes executive roles at AEP, Great Plains Energy, Transource Energy and Grid Assurance.

Anchor Point's leadership team has developed or originated more than $4 billion in transmission projects and constructed over 1,500 miles of transmission infrastructure. Dan Revers, managing partner at ArcLight, said the firm's in-house operating, technical and commercial resources, combined with its Advanced Power and Alpha Gen platforms and Anchor Point's transmission capabilities, position the company to be a value-added partner to utilities.
