Archimed has acquired Institut de Radiofarmàcia Aplicada de Barcelona (IRAB), a Barcelona-based developer of positron emission tomography radiopharmaceuticals. Founded in 2016, IRAB produces imaging agents used in clinical diagnosis, trials and biomedical research across oncology, neurology and cardiology.

The deal represents Archimed's fifth investment through its MED Rise small-cap fund, which reached its €400m hardcap in April 2024. The private equity firm sourced the transaction directly, continuing its focus on healthcare investments in Europe.

Archimed plans to expand IRAB's production capacity and accelerate development of next-generation radiopharmaceuticals. This positions the firm to capitalize on growing demand for precision diagnostic tools in oncology and neurodegenerative disease research.

The acquisition reflects increasing investor confidence in radiopharmaceutical technologies that support personalized medicine approaches. Healthcare providers and pharmaceutical partners now gain access to enhanced imaging capabilities through this expanded platform.
