Apollo Global Management has taken a majority stake in Pittsburgh‑based Noble Environmental, expanding its foothold in the waste‑services sector. The private‑equity firm did not disclose the purchase price, but the move signals confidence in municipal solid‑waste markets as demand for integrated collection and disposal solutions grows across regions.

Founded in 2016, Noble Environmental offers solid‑waste collection, hauling, transfer and disposal services to both municipalities and commercial clients. Its portfolio also includes a renewable natural gas (RNG) operation that captures landfill methane and upgrades it to pipeline‑grade fuel, positioning the company at the intersection of waste management and clean energy.

The acquisition gives Apollo a platform to consolidate fragmented regional players and potentially roll out scale efficiencies in fleet management, routing technology and compliance services. Investors will watch whether the firm can leverage Noble’s RNG asset to capture premium pricing for low‑carbon fuel, a market segment that has attracted increasing regulatory support.

Without a disclosed valuation, the deal’s size remains opaque, yet industry peers note that private‑equity interest in waste and renewable‑energy hybrids has accelerated in recent years. Apollo’s entry augments its environmental services portfolio and gives it immediate exposure to a growing RNG market, solidifying its position in the sector.
