Anvil Robotics, a San Francisco-based startup, raised $5.5 million in seed funding to develop a platform for physical AI teams, aiming to democratize robotics access. The round, led by Matter Venture Partners, includes participation from Humba Ventures, DNX Ventures, and other investors. Co-founders Mike Xia and Vijay Pradeep, who previously worked on hardware startups, identified a gap in affordable, customizable robotics solutions for businesses lacking $100 million R&D budgets.

Their platform acts as “Legos for robots,” allowing users to assemble custom systems via prebuilt kits or tailored designs.
