Other World Computing (OWC) announced its acquisition of OpenDrives, a leader in software-defined video and rich media storage management. This move expands OWC's Jellyfish shared storage portfolio into enterprise-scale data management, hybrid cloud orchestration, and edge workflows. OpenDrives' Atlas platform, trusted by Hollywood studios and broadcasters since 2011, brings reliable low-latency performance to complex creative environments.

The integration includes the April 2026 launch of OpenDrives Edge, a hybrid cloud-edge accelerator providing "local speed" data access for distributed teams. Additionally, the Astraeus cloud-native data services platform, released in beta late 2025, features an updated 2027 release. OWC's prior 2021 acquisition of Jellyfish (Luma Forge) previously broadened high-speed shared storage solutions for professional video workflows, supporting everything from desktop production to petabyte-scale environments.

The combined offerings create an end-to-end data ecosystem spanning on-premises, edge, and hybrid cloud capabilities for uncompressed 8K/12K workflows.
