The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max launch tomorrow, but we got one early. Both are heavier than the iPhone 17 Pro models, with the Pro Max now at 249 grams vs. 233 grams. Apple has matched the glass back to the aluminum frame for a uniform look, replacing last year's two-tone design.

Our review unit is the new glacier color, a light blue that actually looks blue. The 18 Pro also comes in burgundy, silver, and black. Inside is a 2nm A20 Pro chip, but performance gains may be subtle. The new vapor chamber cooling system is three times larger, keeping the phone cooler during gaming. Battery life is up to 36 hours of video playback on the 18 Pro and 45 hours on the Pro Max.

In the U.S., the 18 Pro uses Apple's new C2 modem with mmWave 5G, while the Pro Max has a Qualcomm modem. The Dynamic Island is smaller thanks to an under-display infrared camera, and it can show three Live Activities at once. A new variable aperture Main camera offers four aperture settings and works automatically, with Pro Controls for manual adjustments.

Pricing starts at $1,199 for the iPhone 18 Pro and $1,299 for the Pro Max. Both launch on September 18.
