Imagine scrolling through your Instagram or Facebook feed and seeing an ad for a game. Instead of just a video, what if the game was fully playable right inside your feed? That's exactly what Meta is working on with Horizon Create, a total reboot of Horizon Worlds that puts Meta's AI at the heart of its new gaming engine. I sat down with four members of the development team at Meta Connect 2026 and came away impressed.

Back in the day, I put time into Farmville. But Meta's new Horizon Worlds reboot is sparking an interest I had long forgotten. Like a normal AI prompt, you can start your first game with a simple idea. My demo began on the Horizon Create smartphone app, showing an Instagram-like gaming feed with dozens of games, from adventure to zombie survival. Each can be played instantly, and some let you remix them.

While these games are AI-generated, they don't fit into the "slop" category. Everything starts with a prompt, but the engine supports asset imports, and you can move, adjust, scale, or remix objects. What's amazing is creating things with friends while playing. During my demo, five people worked on different tasks, and I could tap any object to adjust it or ask Meta AI to change it. Publishing to Facebook, Instagram, or Horizon took just two taps.

The desktop Horizon Studio app offers even more options, letting you delve into the development tree and mechanics. Meta has been working on this only since April, so it's still early, but the potential is huge.
