Primary season ended in Delaware on Tuesday, capping seven unpredictable months of candidate switch-ups, upsets, and debate debacles. The most expensive Senate primary was in Texas, costing over $130 million. Attorney General Ken Paxton, backed by President Trump, won the Republican nomination despite being outspent 8 to 1, defeating Senator John Cornyn. Paxton now faces James Talarico.

In Alaska, Senator Dan S. Sullivan faces a challenger also named Dan Sullivan—Dan J. Sullivan—whose middle initial will appear on the ballot to avoid confusion. Democrats hope Mary Peltola can flip the seat.

Democrats lost seven House incumbents in primaries, with four falling to democratic socialists. Republicans lost four House incumbents, including Thomas Massie of Kentucky. In the Senate, two Republican incumbents lost: Cornyn and Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, both opposed by Trump. No Democratic senators were unseated.

In Maine, Troy Jackson won the Democratic Senate nomination just 17 days after entering the race, replacing Graham Platner, who exited amid a rape accusation he denied. Jackson will face Senator Susan Collins.
