President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia pledged continued retaliation against Ukraine and "full solidarity" with Iran during a summit in Kyrgyzstan. He expressed comfort working with President Trump's envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, in peace negotiations.

Putin stated that direct contacts between intelligence heads had occurred even during the Cold War, noting negotiations are "currently frozen." At the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting in Bishkek, he warned that Russian strikes were targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure, risking a financial crisis. He dismissed concerns about civilian aircraft safety, calling such remarks "state terrorism." Regarding Iran, Putin met with President Masoud Pezeshkian and pledged continued support for Tehran's "courage and resilience." Since Trump's campaign against Iran, Russia has provided intelligence and shipped drone components via the Caspian Sea. The U.S. and Iran have resumed trading strikes after a hiatus.
