Lando Norris drove McLaren's new MCL-HY Hypercar at Algarve last week, completing 38 laps to provide feedback ahead of the brand's 2027 debut. The 26-year-old was impressed with the car's set-up options, noting it offered more scope than Formula 1 for electronics and modifications. "The level of detail that they go into is pretty crazy," Norris said, adding that the Hypercar felt "still a quick car" despite being heavier with less downforce. He compared it to "old-school Formula 1" when it was a "free-for-all" on modifications.

Norris was joined by McLaren teammates Mikkel Jensen and Laurens Vanthoor, which he said helped him learn from other drivers. "Everything I do, really, even when I drive other cars, is always to try and learn things," he explained. While some have speculated about his potential future in endurance racing, Norris insisted all his focus remains on Formula 1, stating "I'll never sacrifice something in Formula 1 for something else.".
