Isack Hadjar will return to Red Bull for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix at Baku after recovering from a wrist injury sustained in summer training. Liam Lawson, who deputised for three races starting at the Dutch Grand Prix, moves back to Racing Bulls. Lawson scored 14 points across Zandvoort, Monza, and Madrid, with Yuki Tsunoda filling Lawson's Racing Bulls seat and finishing 10th in Italy.

Red Bull thanked Lawson for his "professionalism, dedication, and hard work" and "impressive performances." Hadjar has not driven an F1 car since July's Hungarian Grand Prix but saw his seasonal points increase when his Monaco Grand Prix third place was reinstated after McLaren and Red Bull successfully appealed the rescinding of Pierre Gasly's pitlane speeding penalties. Hadjar sought advice from MotoGP champion Marc Marquez, who warned against returning prematurely after his own 2020 arm fracture worsened with early returns. Marquez told Hadjar: "I learned in the past that missing one race will not change your life.
