Alpine F1 executive Flavio Briatore expressed "extreme disappointment" following his team's double DNF at the Azerbaijan GP. Franco Colapinto was criticized for a "very poor move" that collected Pierre Gasly and Lando Norris on lap 36. Colapinto locked his front tyres on the dusty inside of the Baku street circuit during a restart, triggering a collision that eliminated both Alpine drivers.

Norris was particularly upset, calling for a one-race ban for careless driving. In the Alpine post-race release, Briatore apologized to Gasly and McLaren, stating the incident robbed the team of a likely double points finish. He acknowledged Colapinto had taken responsibility, blaming late braking for the crash.

Despite the error, Colapinto recently signed a new Alpine deal to remain with the Enstone-based team through 2027. Briatore said he would reflect on necessary action to avoid future repeats, emphasizing the need to learn from the situation.
