The public beta for macOS 27 Golden Gate is now available, offering early access to features like Siri AI before its fall launch. While generally stable, it's recommended to test on a secondary device and back up your data to macOS Tahoe.

Key new features include Liquid Glass for adjustable UI transparency, uniform toolbars, and redesigned sidebars for improved legibility and a less distracting interface. The most significant change is Siri AI, now a chatbot-like assistant integrated with Spotlight for enhanced search and task completion. It can access on-screen information and personal data to answer queries and perform actions.

macOS Golden Gate also introduces Visual Intelligence for asking Siri about screen content, a system-wide "Write with Siri" feature for composing and editing text, and resizable iPhone Mirroring. Shortcuts can now be created using natural language, and Safari gains AI-powered extension creation and intelligent tab grouping. Performance optimizations enhance animations, app responsiveness, and syncing across devices.
