Apple today released macOS Golden Gate 27, the latest macOS version for Mac. It's a free download for compatible Macs, requiring an Apple silicon chip; Intel Macs are not supported. Users can update via Software Update in System Settings.

The update introduces Siri AI, a smarter chatbot with a dedicated app, and brings Visual Intelligence to Mac for the first time. It also tweaks the Liquid Glass design.

Siri AI integrates into Spotlight, draws on personal context, and works across apps. Visual Intelligence lets you select a window and ask Siri about it, accessible via Command-Shift-Space.

Other features: intelligent photo editing (Spatial Reframing, Extend, Clean Up), Safari tab grouping, Notify Me, Describe an Extension, Describe a Shortcut, refined Liquid Glass with a customization slider, new child safety controls (Ask to Browse, Communication Safety, Time Allowances, Schedules), and performance improvements.
