iPhone 18 Pro Max Rumored Thicker, Heavier Than 17 Pro Max

Apple is poised to release a flagship that will be noticeably thicker and heavier than its predecessor. Leaker Ice Universe reports the iPhone 18 Pro Max will measure 9mm in thickness and weigh 240g, adding 0.25mm and 7g over the current iPhone 17 Pro Max.

The device will house a larger battery, with regulatory filings revealing a 5,391mAh pack in China and a 5,567mAh pack in the U.S.—a jump of nearly 500mAh from the 17 Pro Max. Ice Universe attributes the added bulk to the larger battery and a new stainless‑steel vapor chamber that may also increase mass.

Rumors suggest the 18 Pro Max could become the heaviest iPhone ever, but its weight only marginally exceeds that of the iPhone 14 Pro Max, hinting at minimal differences in practice. Apple’s prior shift from titanium to aluminum in recent models explains the weight trend.

The 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max will launch alongside Apple’s first foldable iPhone in September. Consumers face a trade‑off between larger battery life and added bulk, while the industry may lean toward heavier flagship designs.
