Apple's CarPlay system has expanded its app ecosystem with three major additions: ChatGPT, Google Meet, and Audiomack. The updates bring voice-based AI conversations, video conferencing capabilities, and streaming music focused on independent artists to vehicle dashboard displays.

ChatGPT leverages iOS 26.4's new support for voice-based conversational apps, allowing drivers to engage in voice conversations while viewing conversation titles. For safety, the app doesn't display text or images. Google Meet enables joining meetings with a single tap, viewing schedules, and participating in audio calls, though video viewing is disabled on CarPlay. Audiomack, ranked as the 11th-most downloaded music app in the U.S. App Store, offers Discover, Charts, Playlists, and My Library tabs for streaming and downloading songs, particularly in Afrobeats and hip-hop genres.

WhatsApp is also beta testing a revamped CarPlay app that will significantly improve upon its current limited Siri-based functionality. The new version will display recent chats, phone calls, and favorite contacts. These additions demonstrate Apple's ongoing commitment to expanding CarPlay's capabilities beyond basic media playback and navigation, bringing productivity and entertainment apps into the automotive environment while maintaining safety considerations.
