Apple's Next AirPods Pro to Get Cameras and AI Features

Apple is reportedly planning to launch a higher-end version of the AirPods Pro 3 later this year, complete with tiny infrared cameras and Apple Intelligence integration. Instead of calling them AirPods Pro 4, the new model would sit alongside the standard AirPods Pro 3 as a premium variant, similar to how AirPods 4 are offered with and without active noise cancellation.

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and other sources, the cameras would enable in-air gesture controls and create an enhanced audio experience when paired with Apple's Vision Pro headset. Leaker Kosutami claims the cameras will connect the earbuds with Apple Intelligence, with Visual Intelligence as a core feature for wearable AI devices. If accurate, Apple would offer two AirPods Pro 3 models: the standard version at $249 and the camera-equipped version likely priced between $299-$349.

This would mark Apple's first time selling multiple AirPods Pro SKUs simultaneously, though the AirPods 4 precedent makes it plausible. The company has historically released new AirPods in September or October, making that timeframe likely for this launch. With the AirPods Pro 3 debuting just last September, this rapid refresh cycle underscores Apple's push to differentiate its premium audio products through AI capabilities and unique hardware features.
