Apple's Budget MacBook: 8 Key Limitations Leaked Ahead of Launch

Apple's upcoming lower-cost MacBook is expected to launch next week with significant compromises to hit a more affordable price point. A leaker has revealed eight alleged limitations based on leaked Kernel Debug Kit files, though their track record remains unproven. The device will reportedly use the iPhone 16 Pro's A18 Pro chip instead of Apple's M-series processors.

Key limitations include a display below the MacBook Air's 500 nits brightness, no True Tone technology, and storage capped at 512GB without 1TB or 2TB options. Other cuts reportedly include slower SSD speeds using single NAND chips, no fast charging capability, and a non-backlit keyboard. The laptop will also reportedly lack high-impedance headphone support and Apple's custom N1 chip for wireless connectivity.

The budget MacBook will likely feature regular USB-C ports instead of Thunderbolt, 8GB of RAM, and a 12.9-inch display. Apple may offer the device in colorful options reminiscent of the classic iBook, including yellow, green, blue, and pink. Media will get hands-on time at Apple Experience events in New York, London, and Shanghai on March 4, with the product expected to be announced via press release rather than a live stream.
