In a new advertisement shared on its YouTube channel, Apple showcased how the Apple Watch alerted an athlete named Connor to potential signs of atrial fibrillation. According to Apple, doctors later discovered that Connor had a congenital heart condition requiring open-heart surgery, suggesting the device may have saved his life.

While training for a triathlon, Connor noticed an unusually fast heart rate and used the ECG app on his Apple Watch, which detected signs of atrial fibrillation. The ECG app is preinstalled on Apple Watch Series 4 and newer models, as well as all Apple Watch Ultra models, but is not available on Apple Watch SE models.

Apple frequently highlights real-life stories where its wearable technology has assisted users in emergency situations. Previous examples include a mountain biking accident where the Apple Watch's fall detection feature automatically called emergency services after the user was knocked unconscious. The company continues to emphasize health and safety features as key selling points for its wearable devices.
