Apple has announced the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K, which introduces the A19 chip, built-in microphones for hands-free Siri, four-speaker HomePod surround sound, and an updated Siri Remote. It replaces the third-generation model released in 2022 and keeps the same basic design and most of the same entertainment features.

The new model starts at $299 for 128GB of storage. The third-generation model was discontinued after launching at $129 for 64GB and $149 for 128GB, and its final prices were $199 for 64GB and $249 for 128GB after Apple raised prices in June 2026. Against the final 128GB price, the new model costs $50 more, and against the previous entry-level configuration it costs $100 more. In return, buyers get twice the storage, Gigabit Ethernet as standard, and Thread networking.

The A19 chip offers up to 50% faster CPU performance and twice the GPU performance compared with the A15 Bionic. It adds hardware-accelerated ray tracing and mesh shading, along with a 16-core Neural Engine and up to 8x multisample anti-aliasing. The chip is built on TSMC's third-generation 3nm process, while the A15 used a 5nm process.

Siri AI is also coming to the third-generation model in beta with tvOS 27.2, though the new remote must be bought separately for existing devices. Whether an upgrade makes sense depends mainly on whether you will use the direct voice input from the built-in microphones and the performance gains for gaming and graphics.
