Apple rolled out the second developer betas of iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 on Tuesday, just two weeks after the first builds debuted at WWDC 2026 in late May this year. Registered developers can pull the updates via Settings → General → Software Update on any supported iPhone or iPad. The move gives engineers a chance to test new features before the public release slated for September.

iOS 27 introduces Siri AI, a conversational assistant that blends large‑language‑model capabilities with personal data from Messages, Mail and on‑screen context. Apple Intelligence expands across Photos, Safari, Shortcuts, Wallet and Passwords. A dedicated Siri app stores past chats, Write with Siri works system‑wide across the system for all apps, and Visual Intelligence now lives in the Camera app with a new Siri mode.

Beyond AI, Apple refines the Liquid Glass UI with a transparency slider and delivers performance tweaks that speed app launches, AirDrop transfers, keyboard pop‑ups and network handoffs between Wi‑Fi and cellular. Even older iPhone models should feel snappier, giving developers concrete data on how the OS handles real‑world workloads before the consumer rollout in daily use for users.
