Apple Refines Liquid Glass with New Transparency Controls

Apple used its WWDC keynote to roll out the first major update to the Liquid Glass design language introduced a year ago. The company added a transparency slider that lets users dial visual opacity from solid to fully clear, directly responding to user complaints about the original look.

Sidebars also get a makeover: they now stretch to the window edge and keep refraction effects beneath them, while icons retain their original colors. These tweaks address the most frequent criticism that sidebars cut off the glass effect and muted icon hues.

Apple extended the redesign to its app icons, embedding extra layers of Liquid Glass into the artwork after a full‑icon refresh last year. By deepening the visual consistency across the OS, Apple aims to make the translucent aesthetic feel more polished and customizable for developers and end users alike.
