Apple Passwords Gets Automated Security Fix Using Apple Intelligence

Apple is upgrading its Passwords app with automated remediation for weak and compromised credentials, powered by Apple Intelligence. The system can now navigate websites, sign in, and update passwords without requiring users to manually visit each service after granting initial permission.

Until now, the app only flagged security issues, leaving users to change passwords individually across multiple sites. This new agentic AI approach removes that friction by handling credential updates end-to-end in the background, displaying progress as a Live Activity on the lock screen.

Apple frames this as a proactive security measure that works through Safari integration to securely interact with websites. The feature requires users to tap once to authorize each password change, then the AI system takes over authentication and password reset processes.

This positions Apple against password managers like 1Password and Bitwarden while addressing credential stuffing attacks. The automated approach gives users stronger security hygiene without the typical manual effort required for password maintenance.
