Apple Launches Sleep Apnea Detection and Hearing Tests in India

Apple has rolled out two new health monitoring features in India: sleep apnea notifications for Apple Watch and clinical-grade Hearing Test for AirPods Pro. The sleep apnea detection tracks subtle wrist movements during sleep using the watch's accelerometer, identifying irregular breathing patterns across multiple nights before alerting users to potential issues.

The Apple Watch Series 9, 10, 11, Ultra 2, and Ultra 3 support this feature, automatically logging nightly disturbances in the iPhone Health app. For hearing assessments, AirPods Pro 2 or 3 connect with iOS 18.1 devices to play tones at 500Hz, 1kHz, 2kHz, and 4kHz frequencies, requiring users to tap their iPhone when sounds are detected.

Results generate audiograms categorized by dBHL measurements, from mild loss at 26-40 dBHL to profound loss above 80 dBHL. These clinical-grade results store directly in the Health app for sharing with healthcare providers. Apple health features now span 160+ countries, marking a significant expansion of accessible medical screening tools.
