Apple is planning a major redesign of the Health app on iPhone and iPad, with a long list of new features set to be added. Apple announced the changes at yesterday's iPhone event.

The update follows an overhaul of the sensors in the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. The Health Sensing System adds increased electrode surface area, redesigned photodiodes arranged in a ring, and power-efficient green LEDs. The new watches take heart rate readings every five seconds and measure HRV more frequently, sending the data to the Health app on iPhone.

Apple Intelligence integration will turn collected data and metrics into personalized guidance. New sections include Insights, Personal Guidance, Readiness, Fitness, Vitals, Longevity, and Health Age. Readiness provides a 0–10 score based on activity, vitals, and sleep, while Health Age compares metrics such as VO2 max, resting heart rate, HRV, sleep, and blood-work biomarkers with actual age.

Lab results can be uploaded manually or synced through medical records. Apple also partnered with Quest to offer U.S. users a full bloodwork panel covering more than 50 biomarkers for $119, available in the Health app. Results are combined with Apple Watch data and analyzed on iPhone.
