Apple Fitness+ May Add Live Content, Job Listing Hints

Apple is hiring a Studio Producer for its Fitness+ service with live production experience, suggesting potential expansion into live content. The job listing, posted last month, seeks someone with a "strong foundation in live or live-to-tape multi-camera production" at Apple's Santa Monica studio. Apple describes the role as a "creative collaborator" excited to "experiment with new formats" and "push the boundaries of what live fitness content can be."

Currently, Fitness+ operates as an on-demand library of trainer-led workouts launched in 2020, available on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV with Apple Watch integration. Unlike competitors like Peloton, Apple has never offered live classes or real-time leaderboards. The listing's emphasis on live production skills marks new territory, though the responsibilities section remains focused on general production management.

The job listing coincides with ongoing uncertainty around Fitness+'s future. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported in November 2025 that the service was "under review" as one of Apple's "weakest digital offerings" due to high churn and low revenue. Health VP Sumbul Desai took over the service during restructuring, with the health division now reporting to services chief Eddy Cue. Gurman noted in February 2026 that the review was still ongoing, speculating about a potential merger with the Health app.
