Apple has confirmed that its Festival Place store in Basingstoke, England will permanently close on Saturday, November 21. The store, which opened in 2011, operated for 15 years inside the Festival Place shopping center. Apple announced the closure date after initially revealing the store would close in November without a specific date.
In a statement shared with The Reading Chronicle in August, Apple said all employees at the Festival Place location would have the opportunity to transfer to Apple The Oracle in nearby Reading, England or other Apple Store locations across the country. Apple also plans to open a redesigned store at The Oracle in December featuring a modern layout with a more accessible Genius Bar and a dedicated Apple Pickup area for online orders. The company has not provided a reason for the permanent closure, though it appears to be part of a consolidation of retail presence in the area around the new Oracle location.
