Apple, DOJ in Early Antitrust Settlement Talks

Apple is engaged in early settlement discussions with the U.S. Department of Justice regarding the antitrust lawsuit filed in 2024. Reports indicate Apple has made several offers as it seeks to resolve the government's claims of anti-competitive behavior.

The DOJ's lawsuit accused Apple of practices such as restricting "super apps," limiting cloud gaming, favoring its own Messages app, and hindering third-party digital wallets and smartwatches. However, Apple has since implemented policy changes that may have weakened the DOJ's case.

While talks are ongoing, Bloomberg notes that an agreement is not guaranteed. Apple's previous attempt to have the lawsuit dismissed last year was unsuccessful, and no trial date has been set.
