Apple Broadcom $30B Deal US Chip Manufacturing

Apple announced a multiyear partnership with Broadcom exceeding $30 billion to design and produce custom silicon components and wireless technologies in the United States. The agreement will produce more than 15 billion chips domestically and support hundreds of American jobs, marking the largest commitment under Apple's American Manufacturing Program launched last year.

Under the deal, Broadcom will invest $1.5 billion to expand and modernize its manufacturing facility in Fort Collins, Colorado. The plant will produce advanced radio frequency components including FBAR filters and wireless connectivity technologies that span Apple's product lineup — from iPhones and Macs to Watches — covering custom RF components, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and other networking semiconductors.

The partnership forms part of Apple's broader $600 billion commitment to U.S. investment over four years. Tim Cook framed the agreement as accelerating American manufacturing and innovation, while acknowledging administrative support for the project. Broadcom has supplied Apple for years, but this deal dramatically scales domestic production of components essential to every device's connectivity.

This signals Apple's strategic shift toward supply chain resilience for critical wireless components. Anchoring FBAR filter and connectivity chip production in Colorado reduces geopolitical risk for parts every Apple device requires. The $30 billion figure dwarfs prior AMP investments, suggesting Apple views RF sovereignty as essential to its product roadmap — and may pressure rivals to match domestic sourcing commitments.
