An Amazon cargo jet operated by 21 Air crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday, killing five Cuban immigrant workers and injuring three others. The Boeing 767-300, returning from San Juan, Puerto Rico, overshot the runway, skidded across a field, crashed through a fence, crossed a public road, and struck a van carrying workers from Professional Ocean Service Corporation and an SUV. The victims — Javierkys Reyes Quevedo, 47; Carlos Acosta Fajardo, 53; Rolando Alemán León, 55; Julio C.

Pineda, 75; and Yoel Rodríguez Naranjo, 53 — were cleaning planes to support families in Florida and Cuba. Reyes Quevedo had planned to visit his teenage daughter in Cuba for her quinceañera in December. Injured workers Ridoel Averhoff Díaz, 32; Eugenio Corredor, 79; and Roosevelt Sebastian Perdomo Torres, 36, remain hospitalized.

The pilots, Jaime Felipe Silva Molina, 37, and Joseph Carroll, 55, suffered minor injuries. The National Transportation Safety Board, led by chair Jennifer Homendy, is investigating and will interview the crew. Amazon spokeswoman Kelly Nantel said the company is cooperating fully.

The crash disrupted Labor Day weekend travel, and the aircraft remains at the scene. Professional Ocean Service president Janette Suárez called the workers' labor "unseen and underappreciated.".
