The account says the project received formal approval and will likely reuse the 7.8‑inch OLED panel slated for the first‑gen device later this year. This move signals Apple’s commitment to expanding its foldable lineup.

The first foldable iPhone will employ a Samsung‑sourced 7.8‑inch OLED that eliminates a traditional screen layer by integrating the color‑filter directly into the display stack, making it thinner, lighter and more power‑efficient. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman previously reported a fall 2027 launch for the Ultra 2 alongside two 20th‑anniversary models, potentially named iPhone 20 Pro and Pro Max in the upcoming lineup for consumers.
