Apple has introduced a Charge Limit feature in macOS Tahoe 26.4 beta, bringing iPhone-style battery management to Mac users. The new slider bar allows users to set a maximum charging level between 80 and 100 percent, giving more control over battery health preservation.

This feature complements Apple's existing Optimized Battery Charging, which prevents charging to 100 percent until needed based on daily routines. However, Optimized Battery Charging still occasionally allows full charges. The Charge Limit provides a hard restriction, letting users lock their battery at 80, 85, 90, 95, or 100 percent to potentially extend battery longevity.

Users can access the setting through System Settings > Battery by clicking the "i" button next to Charging. This functionality has been available on iPhones since the iPhone 15 lineup launched in 2023. The addition to macOS reflects Apple's ongoing focus on battery health management across its device ecosystem, giving Mac users the same granular control over charging that iPhone users have enjoyed for over two years.
