12th-Gen iPad: Specs, Features, and 2027 Launch

Apple is reportedly working on a 12th-generation iPad, expected to launch in the first quarter of 2027. While not anticipated to be a radical redesign, the budget tablet may see significant internal upgrades.

Design-wise, the 12th-gen iPad is likely to retain the current model's 11-inch display, thick bezels, and Touch ID Side Button. Apple last updated the design with the 10th generation, aligning it more closely with the iPad Pro and Air. The device is expected to continue offering a variety of colors, with potential for new shades.

The most notable changes are anticipated in performance. Rumors suggest the use of Apple's A18 or A19 chip, built on a 3nm process, offering improvements over the current A16. Crucially, these chips would enable Apple Intelligence features, a significant leap from the A16's capabilities. An upgrade to 8GB RAM may also be necessary to support these AI functions. Additionally, the device might feature the N1 chip for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 support, and potentially an Apple-designed modem for cellular models. The pricing is expected to remain around $449, reflecting recent cost increases.
