vivo confirmed its upcoming X Fold6 foldable will debut a customized MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition processor, marking the first time this chipset appears in a foldable device. The company revealed these details through a Weibo post, building anticipation ahead of the expected launch later this month.

The chipset reportedly took over two years to develop specifically for foldable form factors. vivo claims the processor delivers 111% higher peak AI computing performance while reducing power consumption by 56% compared to previous-generation NPU technology. Additional gains include 7% faster voice transcription, 57% quicker text generation, and up to 20% better AI reasoning capabilities.

These performance claims suggest vivo is positioning the X Fold6 as an AI powerhouse in the foldable segment. The device is rumored to pack a 6,900mAh battery and 8-inch inner display, complementing the focus on productivity features through OriginOS 6 Fold.

With Samsung's dominant position in foldables facing increasing competition, vivo's custom silicon approach could differentiate its offering in a crowded premium market.
