Trump Mobile T1 Phone Revealed as Rebranded HTC Device in iFixit Teardown

The Trump Mobile T1 Phone, announced nearly a year ago, has finally started reaching reviewers and reveals a surprising origin story. Teardown experts at iFixit have confirmed what many suspected: this device is essentially a rebranded HTC U24 Pro from 2024, featuring nearly identical hardware except for cosmetic changes to the back panel and color scheme.

Originally marketed as a proudly American-made smartphone, the T1's actual manufacturing raises questions. While Trump Mobile now claims the phone is only 'assembled in the USA,' the hardware similarities suggest otherwise. After all, HTC sold its mobile division to Google years ago and barely releases new phones anymore, making it unlikely they manufactured this device themselves.

The more plausible explanation involves a Chinese ODM (original design manufacturer) that created the handset for HTC. Trump Mobile appears to have contracted the same supplier, essentially picking from an existing catalog. This practice is common in the industry, allowing brands to launch phones without significant R&D investment.

Given the hardware parallels, the Trump T1 almost certainly uses the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor found in the HTC U24 Pro, despite Trump Mobile's vague 'Snapdragon 7 Series' marketing language. Consumers expecting an innovative American smartphone got a white-label device instead.
