Display Week 2026 brought the world's top display manufacturers to Los Angeles last week, and TCL CSOT stole the show with breakthrough displays designed for extended reality devices. The company unveiled what it calls the world's highest pixel density displays, targeting both AR glasses and more immersive VR headsets.

The standout is a tiny 0.28-inch single-chip full-color Si-Micro LED panel pushing 5,131ppi — a density never achieved before. This display resolves to 1,280 x 720px, which isn't sharp enough for VR but works perfectly for information overlays in AR glasses. Unlike traditional displays, Micro LED emits light from each pixel without requiring a backlight.

TCL also showcased a 2.24-inch Real RGB G-OLED display with 1,700ppi density and 2,600 x 2,784px resolution. This panel runs at 120Hz with microsecond response times, deep contrast, and low power consumption. The "G" refers to the glass substrate these OLEDs are built upon. These ultra-high-density displays could finally make lightweight AR glasses practical for everyday use.
