Samsung Smart Switch Update Eases iPhone to Galaxy Transfer

Samsung's updated Smart Switch app in One UI 9 simplifies switching from iPhone to Galaxy devices like the Galaxy Z Fold8, Z Fold8 Ultra, and Z Flip8. Users no longer need to install Smart Switch on their iPhone; the Android app generates a QR code scanned by the iPhone's camera to start the transfer. The process now copies more data, including passwords, passkeys, call history, accessibility settings, and eSIM information, alongside photos, contacts, messages, calendars, and apps. The transfer can be initiated during initial setup or later.

Post-switch integration is also improved. One UI 9 devices and older models on One UI 8.5 support Apple's AirDrop via Quick Share for file sharing with iPhones. Good Lock allows customization of home screen layouts, swipe gestures, and themes to make the interface feel familiar.

One UI 9 currently runs on the latest Galaxy Z foldables. Beta testing is underway for the Galaxy S26 series (fifth beta) and A-series models like the Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A16 5G. Notably, Pixel phones on Android 17 offer a similar upgraded switching experience thanks to Apple and Google collaboration.
