Samsung shifts US HQ to Plano, Texas amid Texas fab expansion

Samsung Electronics is pulling its U.S. headquarters out of New Jersey and setting up shop in Plano, Texas. After more than four decades in Ridgefield Park and a brief stint in Englewood Cliffs, the move follows the company’s massive investment in semiconductor fabs near Dallas. The relocation will shift roughly 1,000 staff from New Jersey to the Lone Star State.

The Texas site already hosts Samsung’s Taylor semiconductor complex, which earned a $6.6 billion state subsidy in 2024 to expand foundry capacity. Apple has been scouting alternative fabs to lessen reliance on TSMC, and executives recently toured the Taylor plant. Samsung’s plan is to complete the headquarters move within the year, reallocating employees and consolidating operations around its growing Texas manufacturing hub.

Most of the former Englewood Cliffs staff will be reassigned to the Plano office, leaving a skeleton crew in New Jersey to support local activities. Samsung opened a Networks Innovation Center in Plano last year, signaling a broader strategic shift toward on‑shoring its technology stack. The move cements Texas as a central node in the company’s global semiconductor roadmap.
