Samsung's upcoming foldable lineup is getting a name overhaul, according to tipster Ice Universe on Weibo. The device long whispered as “Galaxy Z Fold Wide” will officially launch as Galaxy Z Fold8. A higher‑end variant dubbed Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra will sit above the standard model, while the Galaxy Z Flip8 rounds out the series.

Industry watchers expect the Fold8 Ultra to outpace the Fold7 with a larger 5,000 mAh battery and an upgraded triple‑camera stack. The regular Fold8 will retain a wider aspect ratio but likely use a smaller power cell. These hardware bumps aim to position Samsung against Apple’s upcoming iPhone Ultra and other Android foldables targeting power users.

All three devices—Fold8, Fold8 Ultra and Flip8—are slated for a July reveal during Samsung's second Galaxy Unpacked event. Launch timing aligns with the company's traditional rollout window, giving developers and carriers a clear timeline. Consumers will soon decide whether Samsung's expanded foldable portfolio justifies the premium price tag.

The naming shift simplifies the series, moving away from descriptive monikers toward a numeric cadence that mirrors the flagship S line. By branding the wider model as Fold8, Samsung signals that the form factor is now mainstream rather than experimental, potentially accelerating adoption among enterprise users who value larger screens without sacrificing pocketability.
