Samsung is developing a new smartwatch codenamed Galaxy Aero that will not run Wear OS, according to a recent report. The device is positioned between the Galaxy Fit and Galaxy Watch FE in terms of pricing.

References to the watch have been discovered in the Galaxy Wearable app's code, describing it as a watch with a screen running RTOS. Since it doesn't use Wear OS, the device could deliver week-long or even weeks-long battery life while still offering standard smartwatch sensors.

The display shape remains unknown—whether circular, rectangular, or square—and the Galaxy Aero name may change before launch. Samsung is preparing multiple device announcements for September, which could be when this smartwatch debuts.
