Samsung unveiled the Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37 mid-range phones this week, launching in early April at $550 and $450 respectively. Both models feature upgraded IP68 water resistance, faster 45W charging, and slimmer designs compared to their predecessors. The A57 introduces the new Exynos 1680 chipset with improved performance and AI capabilities, while the A37 uses the Exynos 1480.

These phones follow the successful Galaxy A56 and A36, which were key growth drivers for Samsung according to IDC. The A56 was even Europe's best-selling phone last year, beating the iPhone 16. However, the new models face stiff competition from Samsung's own Galaxy S25 FE, which offers superior specs including an LTPO display, better chipset, and telephoto camera at similar prices.

The A57 measures just 6.9mm thick and weighs 179g, making it feel more premium than previous A-series models. Both phones lose the microSD card slot, potentially disappointing users with large storage cards. While the A37 hasn't changed dramatically, it's noticeably slimmer than the 2024 A35. Samsung is already offering storage upgrades in some regions, suggesting these phones will see frequent discounts after launch.
