Samsung Galaxy A18 Firmware Development Reveals One UI 9 Plans

Samsung has begun developing test firmware for the Galaxy A18 4G, with builds appearing on the company's European test server. The device carries model number SM-A185F, suggesting it's in early development stages ahead of its expected launch window.

The firmware uses SHA256 hashing rather than the older MD5 format, which could indicate the phone will ship with One UI 9 from day one. This timing aligns with Samsung's expected rollout of its next-gen foldables next month, where the new software interface will debut.

Given the Galaxy A17 4G launched in September 2025, its successor likely follows a similar timeline for release. Samsung also introduced the A17 5G in August 2025, and industry watchers expect the A18 to offer 5G connectivity as well.

The shift to SHA256 represents Samsung's move toward more secure firmware validation, while the One UI 9 integration suggests the company is streamlining its software rollout across device tiers.
