Samsung Browser Gets Multi-Window, AI Features in One UI 9

Samsung is preparing a major update for its Samsung Browser with One UI 9, bringing features that could reshape how users interact with the web on Galaxy devices. The browser, pre-installed on all Galaxy phones and available on the Google Play Store, will gain a split-screen multi-window browsing experience similar to what Chrome already offers on Android. This allows users to open and monitor two or even three active websites simultaneously, particularly useful on larger devices like the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

Beyond multitasking, Samsung is introducing an Ask AI feature powered by Perplexity that appears more deeply integrated than typical browser AI tools. Unlike surface-level visual analysis, this AI pulls data directly from the browser, including browsing history and potentially personal information. The feature raises questions about privacy and data handling, though Samsung has included a toggle to control how long activity data is retained. The company hasn't detailed its approach to these privacy concerns.

The update also includes a mysterious Cross Device Resume toggle, which may allow seamless transfer of browsing sessions between devices. This feature's exact functionality remains unclear, as it differs from the existing Continue on other device option. With the One UI 9 Beta program launching in May, Galaxy users can expect these enhancements to arrive alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 this summer.
