Redmi Note 17 & Poco M8 Plus Likely Same Phone

Xiaomi rolls out the Redmi Note 17 series in China this month, while global versions remain months away, a pattern that has repeated before.

BIS has certified two devices—2607 DRA18I for Redmi and 2607 DPC18I for Poco. The two models are expected to share identical hardware, a practice Xiaomi has used to streamline production across its sub‑brands.

The Redmi handsets are rumored to be the global Note 17, and Poco’s version is set to launch as the M8 Plus, following the M7 Plus that debuted last August. Xiaomi skipped number 16, mirroring a move by its parent company.

The Chinese variant will likely sport a 6.83‑inch flat screen with 1.5K resolution, a Snapdragon dobrze Gen 4 SoC, a 9000 mAh battery that supports 67W wired charging, and a 50MP main camera. Whether these features transfer to global variants is uncertain.

Consumers in China gain early access, while overseas buyers face a delay that could split brand perception and affect competitive positioning.
